The Native Connections (NC) Project Director is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the federally funded (SAMHSA) Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration project. Native Connections is a 5-year effort (07/31/2021- 07/30/2026) with the primary goals of preventing and reducing suicidal behavior and substance use, reducing the impact of trauma, and promoting mental health among American Indian/Alaska Native youth through the age of 24 years. It aims to reduce the impact of mental health and substance use disorders, foster culturally responsive models to reduce and respond to the impact of trauma on AI/AN communities, and allow AI/AN communities to support youth and young adults as they transition into adulthood by facilitating collaboration among agencies.
