1. Technical Design & CNC Programming
· Develop and refine 3D models for wood products using AutoCAD, Blender, and VCarve Pro.
· Program and operate CNC machinery, utilizing a basic understanding of C# coding to troubleshoot or customize machine scripts and workflows.
· Integrate 3D printing for prototyping jigs, fixtures, or hybrid-material components.
2. Precision Manufacturing & Quality Control
· Apply aerospace and military-grade quality control standards to finished wood products to ensure precise tolerances and high-end finishing.
· Interpret complex blueprints, shop drawings, and technical documentation for custom tribal projects.
· Manage the production lifecycle: from processing orders and inventory tracking (Excel/Google Drive) to professional packing and shipping of high-value items.
3. Wood Product Manufacturing & Manual Operation
· Operate portable sawmills, kilns, wood splitters, and forklifts to process salvaged timber.
· Hands-on use of traditional power tools (table saws, jointers, sanders) for fine-shaping and assembly.
· Maintain all hardware and equipment, performing routine repairs and mechanical troubleshooting.
4. Administration & Safety
· Manage digital records, including invoices, budget paperwork, and grant-related documentation using Adobe Creative Suite, Word, and Excel.
· Adhere to strict PPE protocols and safety guidelines; participate in all tribal safety meetings.
· Experience: A minimum of six (6) months of documented experience in each of the following:
o Woodworking or Precision Trade: Professional experience in furniture making, cabinetry, or related craft.
o Shop or Factory Environment: Working within a production-oriented setting, adhering to assembly line procedures, quality control (aerospace/military grade preferred), and safety protocols.
o Outdoor Labor & Machinery: Performing arduous physical labor in varied terrain and operating heavy machinery (sawmills, splitters, or forklifts).
o Technical Modeling & CNC: Hands-on use of 3D modeling/CAD software and the operation of CNC equipment.
· Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with VCarve Pro, C# (or similar coding basics for machine logic), and 3D printing technology.
· Administrative Skills: Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel/Word), Google Drive, and Adobe Creative Cloud for documentation and design.
· Driver Requirements: Must have a clean driving record and be able to be covered under the La Jolla Band’s tribal vehicle insurance policy.
· Communication/Age: Must be at least 18 years of age and capable of reading, writing, and passing technical written tests in English.
Certifications
· First Aid/CPR: Current Heartsaver First Aid, Bloodborne Pathogen, AED, and CPR certification (the Tribe will provide training if these are not currently held).
· Safety Training: Ability to complete OSHA-compliant shop safety and equipment-specific certifications as required.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
· Physical Fitness: Ability to perform strenuous labor on uneven terrain in extreme weather (below 32°F or above 90°F). Must be able to continuously lift objects up to 65 lbs.
· Conditions: Frequent exposure to loud noises and hazardous materials (sawdust, resins, lubricants). Occasional chainsaw use.
