The following duties are considered essential for this job classification:
1. Oversee daily operations of the bike shop, ensuring efficient and high-quality service for all customers.
2. Be able to fill the needs of general park management in other areas of the La Jolla Adventure Park
3. Recruit, hire, train, and supervise bike shop staff, providing ongoing support, coaching, and performance evaluations.
4. Develop and implement policies and procedures for the bike shop, ensuring compliance with industry best practices and the resort’s standards.
5. Manage and maintain inventory of bike parts, clothing, accessories, and other merchandise, ensuring optimal stock levels and accurate record-keeping.
6. Oversee the rental fleet, collaborating with the Head Mechanic to ensure all bikes are properly maintained and in excellent working condition.
7. Monitor and evaluate the performance of the bike shop, identifying areas for improvement and implementing strategies to increase efficiency, revenue, and customer satisfaction.
8. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting strong teamwork and communication among bike shop staff and other resort employees.
9. Stay up-to-date on the latest trends and developments in the mountain biking industry, including new products, technologies, and retail strategies.
10. Collaborate with resort management to plan and execute special events, promotions, and marketing
initiatives for the bike shop.
11. Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall success of the La Jolla Band of Luiseño Indians’ mountain bike resort operations.
12. Ability to work 10-hour shifts on a 4-day work week
1. High school diploma or GED required; post-secondary education in a related field, such as business management, retail management, or marketing, is a plus.
2. 3-5 years of experience in the cycling industry, with a strong background in retail management and customer service is highly preferred.
3. Proven leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and mentor staff.
4. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with guests and staff from diverse backgrounds.
5. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
6. Knowledge of mountain bike components, accessories, clothing, and repair techniques, with a passion for the sport and a commitment to staying current on industry trends.
7. A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to and from work.
8. A commitment to promoting the cultural heritage and values of the La Jolla Band of Luiseño Indians, and a dedication to providing a safe and enjoyable experience for all resort guests and staff.
